How to Hide specific Drives ?

This tutorial illustrates how to hide and show your computer drives from Windows XP. You can hide or show as you want both drives in your computer and drives in the computer network. This way can be safe for data in your computer and prevent others from accessing to your drives that may contain important information. This example I will hide drive D and you can apply this method to another drive you want, just change a value that I will explain “how to” in detail. Let you hide drives now.

* Access to the Registry Editor program, running regedit.
* Find the path like below,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer

* Right click on the Explorer folder and select New > DWORD Value.
* Name the registry NoDrives.
* Double click on NoDrives which is in the right page.
* In the DWORD Value window, select Decimal.
* In this case I want to hide drive D, so I must fill 8 in Value data. The number you filled varies with drive you want it to be hidden. If you want to hide the other drives, you must put the drive-related number like below,

A=1, B=2, C=4, D=8, E=16, F=32, G=64, H=128, I=256, J=512, K=1024, L=2048, M=4096, N=8192, O=16384, P=32768, Q=65536, R=131072, S=262144, T=524288, U=1048576, V=2097152, W=4194304, X=8388608, Y=16777216, Z=33554432, All drive=67108863

For example, I can hide drive J only if I put the number 512 under selecting Decimal. What to do in case I prefer to hide more than one drive ? That is easy just plus the numbers. To illustrate, I want to hide drive C and E so I put the result number of 4 plus 16 that is 20.

* Click OK button and close the Registry Editor program.
* Log off and Log on your computer. Finish !

Graphic Card

The graphic card is one of the most important pieces of hardware in your PC. Without it, your super monitor with all the bells and whistles is just a junk box.

*Make Directional Input

Most video cards come with simple frame capture programs, but you'll have to do some programming if you plan to integrate video capture with other operations on your computer, such as adding text data as an overlay or changing video-in channels on the fly. In this case you'll need good programming libraries in a language with which you are familiar for the video card. Some companies include libraries with their cards, but most charge extra. Most often libraries, when available, are for C or BASIC, and sometimes Pascal.

*Choose Between 24 bit and 32 bit

For True Color mode, some graphic cards offer 24 bit while some offer 32 bit. Which is the best? When True Colour mode was first suggested, it utilizes 32 bit which was very pleasing to the eye, they realize that 24 (with less coolers) won't look much different since the human eye can only take about a certain amount of colors. On the other hand, 24 bit will run faster compared to 32 bit because it uses less colors. So if your card utilizes 24 bit, don't worry, it isn't bad.

*Always Use The Latest Drivers

Yes, it is important to make sure you always have the latest drivers. The latest drivers will offer you better performance, more utilities and more compatibility (usually for DirectX or Direct3D). Take the effort to check you card manufacturer's site to look for the latest driver updates.

Speed Up Windows with a Registry Cleaner

Knowing what the Windows registry is, and how it is impacted by daily use, can help you understand why your system slows down over time. But the solution is simple: use a registry cleaner and your Windows will be back up to speed in no time.

We live in a world where we can get just about anything we want, whenever we want it. A hamburger at three in the morning? A money order on a Sunday? The weather forecast for the picnic this afternoon? You got it!

Advances in technology in particular have made us accustomed to instant gratification. With cell phones that take pictures and enable live chat, we expect our home computers to operate at the speed of light. With fiber optic cable modems you can now access the web in a flash. But what about when your operating system is slow? When Windows becomes sluggish it leaves us frustrated, searching for a solution.

On every PC exists a directory called the Windows registry. The registry is a fundamental directory that houses information and settings for the user, software, and hardware. It is a low-level directory that stores very basic information, and there is hardly a single program that can run without accessing the registry.

Every time you install new hardware or software for example, a setting may be added to the registry. It is also possible that an old setting gets replaced. Downloading attachments from your email, or viewing certain web pages can also impact the registry—again, there isn’t much that you do on your PC that doesn’t rely in some basic way on the information stored there. This directory is constantly being added to, edited, and rearranged.

Over time, the registry gets crowded and cluttered. When you start up or reboot your PC, or try to load a program, your computer will attempt to retrieve the information it needs from the registry. If this database is unorganized, it obviously takes more time to access the necessary information. Additionally, the information may be incorrect, filed in the wrong place, or possibly no longer even exists.

If you want to speed up Windows, a registry cleaner is necessary. Compatible with all Microsoft products and third party applications, RegCure is arguably the best and most complete registry cleaner available. RegCure uses advanced technology to analyze your registry for missing, obsolete, and corrupt entries. Designed to provide computer users with the most advanced prevention and maintenance tool available, it offers the most comprehensive feature set on the market plus free customer support. You can download RegCure to scan your computer for free at RegistryRepairProgram. This scan will identify any errors in your registry, and if you choose to use RegCure to repair them, a slow operating system will be a thing of the past.

By no fault of our own, we have developed a “I-want-it-now!” mentality. The technology that surrounds us has encouraged this, but when it fails to provide immediate results, it can be extremely frustrating. A slow running Windows operating system is no exception. Knowing what the Windows registry is, and how it is impacted by daily use, can help you understand why your system slows down over time. But the solution is simple: use a registry cleaner and your Windows will be back up to speed in no time.

Making the Windows install platform-agnostic

To begin with, we need to move the system to a more generic set of platform drivers. The first place to start is in the XP control panel Add and Remove Programs, or on Vista, Programs and Features, where we'll remove the relevant motherboard drivers. For example, those on nForce-based boards will be removing "NVIDIA Drivers", those on ATI, can use ATI's handy "ATI Software Uninstaller" (which will also try to get rid of anything else with a name starting with 'ATI', including third party utilities), while Intel and VIA users get their own platform software entries, assuming the vendor software is installed of course.

Once that reboot is out of the way (oh, you'll be doing a fair amount of rebooting) launch Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), and replace your onboard storage controller with "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller," or similar, as shown in Figure 1 below. If it is not listed with the Show compatible hardware checkbox filled, your system may not survive this process unless the new motherboard is from the same chipset vendor.
Figure 1

If you're still on an AGP system, you'll want to knock out your AGP drivers in the same manner, but this time the driver to install is "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge".

Now if you're on an Intel board, you'll need to enable Show Hidden Devices from the menu, and have a look in the new tree which appeared: "Non-Plug and Play Devices". There are two drivers known to cause problems, 'IntelIDE' and 'IntelPPM', so you will need to uninstall them.

At this stage you may also want to remove your video drivers, since they'll likely need reinstalling anyway.

Reboot your system for the driver changes to take effect. Now your system is platform agnostic, you could take the hard disk out and put it pretty much anywhere. The one caveat is that you can't change where the HD logically is, so if you take a HD from the Primary channel (Yes, SATA can still appear to have Secondary and Primary, so check which one your HD is on) to the Secondary, it still won't work. Most will have it as SATA0 or Primary Master/ Transfer this placement exactly to the new motherboard. If you get a boot problem after performing your motherboard swap, this is the very first place to look.

Now power down and do what needs doing, namely the hardware installation.

How to Hide a Windows Notepad File

Why would you want to hide files on your computer? I don't know about you but I have a lot, and I mean a lot, of passwords to keep up with. Maybe you just keep all of your passwords written down on paper next to your computer. I'm guilty of that myself. However, there are some passwords like the ones to my bank account and my credit cards that I don't feel comfortable having hard copies of lying around. I have them memorized but I want a copy of them someplace other than my cerebral cortex so I have them hidden in a text file on my hard drive.

The NTFS file system in all versions of Windows Vista and XP supports something called Alternate Data Streams. So this will won't work in Windows 98 which uses FAT 32. I just tested this on my laptop running Vista Home Premium and it does work. I've been using it on my XP machine for years now.

This is really neat! And it's very simple and easy to do.

Go to the command prompt. I know you know how but ... hold down the Windows Key and type r and then type cmd in the run box and hit the Enter key. Or you could click the Start button and click Run from there and type cmd in the box and hit your Enter key. Same thing. There are lots of ways to get to the Command prompt.

You should now be at C:\Users\Your Name> or C:\Users\Owner> but wherever you are that is where you're about to create this secret text file. So now all you need to do is type: notepad SomeFile.txt:SecretWord and hit the Enter key. But before you do that read the rest of this first.

Of course it doesn't matter what you name the file you're about to create and it doesn't matter what letters or symbols you use after the colon. I just used SecretWord after the colon as an example. But the syntax is important. Type notepad without a space at the prompt then a space and then SomeFile.txt:YourSecretWord all without any spaces.

When you hit Enter, Windows will send up a box that says "Cannot find the C:\Users\Owner\SomeFile.txt:SecretWord.txt file. Do you want to create a new file? So click Yes. When NotePad opens (and it will) put whatever you want to keep private in it and save it and close it just like you would any other document.

Now here's the cool part. In regular ol' Windows, go to C:\Users\Owner, or wherever you just created this NotePad document and find the document. It will be there titled SomeFile.txt. or whatever you decided to call it. Now click it open. Wow! its blank! O.K. so type some gibberish in it. Anyone who finds this file and opens it will see the gibberish.

To access your secret file go back the command prompt (Ctrl + r then type cmd in the box and hit Enter) and type: notepad SomeFile.txt:SecretWord and hit Enter and there's your hidden file without the gibberish. You can edit it any way you like. Notice how the Title bar reads: SomeFile.txt:SecretWord.txt.

Neat huh? Sure you could use encryption or password-protect a compressed file but this is one of only two ways I know to make a file completely disappear in Windows without having to buy and use some expensive third party software. The way I look at it is, this is way better than encryption. Because unless you know the password that comes after the colon in the command prompt you ain't gonna get to this file.

How To Remove Malware....

What is a malware? According to Wikipedia, malware is define as software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. That means all the software that have this feature are considered as malware or commonly known as viruses, spyware, adware and many more.
Before you learn how to remove it, it's better for you to learn how you can get infected by the malware at the first place. Here I'll tell you two ways how you can get infected by the malware.

1. You visit websites with malicious intent. In order to prevent you from visiting this kind of websites, it's advisable that you install a site advisor such as McAfee SiteAdvisor. This way, it can warns you if you visit a malicious website and protect your computer from harm.

2. You don't have any firewall installed. Firewall is very important to monitor and block outgoing or incoming traffic and by installing one, it will be very hard for the malware to get into your computer and if it infected your computer, you can block it from sending information to the Internet.

Ok, so how to remove the malware from your computer?

1. Install an anti-virus. It's a must for you to have an anti-virus in your PC and if you don't have the money to buy it, use a free anti-virus. I strongly suggest you to download Avast! Anti-virus, AVG, or Avira Anti-virus.

Please make sure that you install one anti-virus only.

2. Install anti-spyware and anti-adware software as it will help you to deal with spyware and adware. If you have the money, go for paid software. But if you don't, try using Ad-Aware 2008 and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are free.

Anti-spyware and anti-adware software are different with anti-virus. You can install more than one into your computer.

3. Find a good firewall to monitor the ingoing and outgoing traffic. You can download the Comodo Firewall Pro. In my opinion, this firewall is very good and easy to use.

4. Install site advisor such as McAfee Site Advisor so you will know which websites are harmful to your computer and which are not when you're surfing the Internet.

5. Update all the anti-spyware, anti-adware, anti-virus, site-advisor and firewall frequently to stay up-to-date. New malware are created every now and then and therefore it's important for you to update your anti-malware software.

These are the things that you can do to protect yourself from malware and the ways to remove it from your computer. In my opinion, the best tool is knowledge. So, learn everything you can and you can prevent yourself from getting infected by malware.

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard Review

For a $150 motherboard, the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P packs a lot of value. With one of the most comprehensive rear-panel I/O risers available, incredibly inclusive overclocking controls, and the new Ultra Durable 3 system for added piece of mind, it's quite a bit of mobo for the money.

It might lack some of the bells and whistles that those $400 and $500 boards offer, such as three X16 slots and audio hardware, but this LGA775 based beast is nonetheless a killer board for a midlevel or even an enthusiast computer system.

The EP45-UD3P makes overclocking easy with Gigabyte's awesome M.I.T. (Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker) system. Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced throttles voltages and the CPU clock in the background, saving energy without leveraging a performance hit against the system.

Have we sufficiently whetted your appetite? Are you ready for details? Read on!

Features
The feature set of the EP45-UD3P is even more impressive when you realize, after a thorough search on the Internet, you can get the board for as little as $131. Check out the basics first:

Northbridge Intel P45 Express
Southbridge Intel ICH10R
Memory 4 DDR2 DIMM sockets that support up to 16GB of memory
Expansion 1 PCI Express X16 slot running at full speed; 1 PCI E X16 slot running at X8; CrossFireX support; 3 PCI Express X1 slots (two of which are north of the X16 slot, so the graphics card won't bogart their space); 2 PCI slots.
Storage Southbridge supports 6 SATA 3Gbps ports, with support for SATA RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10; Gigabyte SATA2 controller supports 1 IDE ATA/133 port, 2 SATA 3Gbps ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and JBOD; iTE iT8718 controller supports floppy port.
LAN 2 Realtek 8111C controllers, 2 RJ45 jacks, teaming support.
Back panel I/O Name it! PS/2 ports for keyboard, mouse; 1 coax S/PDIF out; 1 optical S/PDIF out; 8 USB 2.0 ports; 2 IEEE 1394a ports; 2 RJ45 jacks; 6 color coded audio minijacks.
Internal I/O 2 USB 2.0 headers; 1 IEEE 1394 header; 1 parallel port header; 1 serial port header; 1 S/PDIF out header; 1 S/PDIF in header; front panel audio header; 2 system fan headers; 1 power fan header.
Software Norton Internet Security OEM; lots of Gigabyte unique software.

Meanwhile, there is also a bunch of stuff included that's Gigabyte trademarked. In some cases, other motherboard manufacturers have similar products to offer:

* Xpress Recovery2: This utility lets you compress and back up system data, and restore it if necessary. It requires a SATA or IDE hard drive and a minimal amount of space. Note that it doesn't support RAID, AHCI, or external USB hard drives.
* DualBIOS: This motherboard has two BIOS chips, a main and a backup. Should the BIOS get hosed, the backup BIOS takes over automatically.
* Q-Flash: You can update the system BIOS with this utility that's accessible through the BIOS itself. No need for a DOS diskette or other bootable media. Just stick the new BIOS on a USB flash drive and boot; invoke Q-Flash from the BIOS when prompted.
* @BIOS: You can also update the BIOS through Windows with this utility. It'll even hit the Gigabyte server and download the latest BIOS for you.
* Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced: This awesome utility takes over where technologies like Intel's SpeedStep leave off. Simple to set up yet quite powerful, DESA throttles voltages and governs the CPU, saving energy when possible but restoring full power when it's needed.
* Ultra Durable 3: This technology isn't interactive, but offers a nice amount of peace of mind. This motherboard's ground and power layers contain two ounces of copper, which effectively keeps the board cooler than other boards. The Japanese capacitors are solid and rated for 50,000 hours of use. That's a lot of time to balance your checkbook or play Mercenaries 2. Ferrite core chokes are extremely efficient, and lower RDS(on) MOSFETs have a dramatically lower resistance, which in turn reduces the amount of heat generated and the amount of power consumed.

In other words, this motherboard is built to last.

AMD's 45nm Push

AMD recently announced that the company is shedding its manufacturing operation, transferring its manufacturing assets to a new company. This will allow AMD to focus on design and engineering.

A large part of that design effort is a move to the 45nm manufacturing process. AMD's CPUs have been hobbled by the company's reliance on the older 65nm process, which has forced the company to stay out of the high-end, high-margin segment of the processor business. To its credit, AMD has focused on lowering power consumption, offering a complete line of 45W dual-core and 65W quad-core CPUs.

By late 2008, the company will have begun shipping its first set of 45nm quad-core CPUs based on the Phenom architecture. Code-named Shanghai, the new CPU will offer 6MB of L3 cache (up from 2MB) and HyperTransport 3 support. However, Shanghai will still have an embedded DDR2 memory controller, meaning that it will trail Intel in overall memory bandwidth.

Beyond this year, the company is prepping a 6-core CPU dubbed Istanbul, which is slated for a late 2009 launch. It's unlikely that there will be substantial changes to the architecture. The next new architecture for AMD is Magny Cours, which will have up to 12 cores and finally incorporate a DDR3 memory controller. A 6-core version, code-named Sao Paulo, will arrive on the scene about the same time, in early 2010.

Intel, on the other hand, likes to brag about its "tick-tock" development cycle. The phrase refers to the way Intel designs and transitions new architectures. When Intel develops a manufacturing process—such as its current 45nm technology—it brings an existing architecture to the new process. So Penryn, Intel's first 45nm CPU, was an evolutionary improvement over the original Core 2. That's the "tick." The "tock" is when Intel designs and builds a new CPU architecture on the current manufacturing process. Hence all the Nehalem variants will be built using the existing 45nm process.

In 2009, Intel will start to bring up its next-generation 32nm process, enabling it to pack even more transistors onto the same die size or shrink the CPU considerably. The 32nm process should also reduce power consumption and, in theory, enable higher clock speeds. The first processor built on 32nm will be Westmere and will be based on Nehalem.

Westmere may incorporate up to six cores on a single die. Intel has also announced that six new instructions designed to accelerate AES encryption/decryption algorithms will be part of the instruction set.

The true next generation for Intel isn't likely to hit the street until later in 2009 and will also be built on 32nm. That CPU is code-named Sandy Bridge. There's not a lot known about Sandy Bridge yet, but Intel is planning on integrating Advanced Vector Extensions, a new set of extensions to SSE that may considerably enhance the CPU's floating-point performance.

Introduction of Monitor

The monitor is a popular and most commonly used output device. Most monitors used in personal computers to display text, graphics, and video information. Due to different futures of monitor purchasing can be one of the most important task. Follow the some given steps to buying new or used monitor.

Technology of monitor

There are two basic types of monitors that are used with personal computer.

*CRT monitors

*Flat-Panel Monitors

when you are purchasing a monitor it is important to know, you need a CRT monitor or a Flat Panel monitor.

CRT Monitors. A CRT monitor is similar to standard television. Like televisions, CRT monitor size is measured diagonally, in inches, across the front of the screen. Today, CRT monitors are available in various sizes, i.e., 15, 17, 19, 21, and 22 inches. The large size monitors are more expensive and allow you to view more information on the screen at once.

Flat Panel / LCD. A flat panel monitor is also called LCD monitor. A flat panel monitor takes up less desk space and also consumes less power. Flat panel monitors are available with different sizes such as 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, and 23 inches. Flat panel monitors are commonly used in mobile devices such as laptop and table PCs. Similarly, smart phones, PDAs calculators have LCD screens.

There are two main categories of LCDs. These are

*Active Matrix LCD

*Passive Matrix LCD

Resolution:

The quality of monitor screen depends on its resolution, which is generally proportional to the size of screen.

15" monitor typically has a resolution of 800 x 600 / 1,024 x 768

Fan

Fan indeed become the main weapon evict the PC for most of the hot components. However, the fan is also a problem once the commotion that resulted in the constant hum of your PC. Try total fan count only installed on your PC. One in the HSF (heatsink fan) processor, an integrated power supply on. If the motherboard is not yet equipped with the chipset HSF, HSF GPU (graphic processor unit) on the video card. You agree that the most of your PC chassis to add from 1 fan to fan with a 2-4 extra to ensure the flow of air in the chassis. Not to spoil the fun harddsik (let alone that have high RPM), sometimes add a hard disk cooler, which means additional fan again.

If you are looking for additional fan, try searching for a quality fan with low noise level. Fan good not generate much vibration during operation. Fan berdiameter major trend has produced a noise level lower. So if you allow chassis, select the size of 120 mm fan of the 80 mm fan.

If you do have a lot of fan, try to make sure that the most appropriate for your chassis. How easy enough. With the program of monitoring hardware, such as Motherboard Monitor. This utility has a view display (called the Dashboard), which is very easy to read. Even the log results are also available in the reading time. To monitor the temperature of the hard drive, can utilize the HDD Thermometer 1.0.

Find a combination of fan with the most appropriate level of cooling the most optimal. Try to run the PC with a full load (while playing games or running applications that weight) for not less than 15 minutes. See the maximum temperature recorded on Motherboard Monitor. Compare the value in combination with other fan enhancements. Select which according to your best with the amount of fan noise level generated, adjust with the surrounding environment. If there is a fan of the remaining, made it as a backup if a fan were damaged.

Note from us: do not perturbed if your processor temperature never reached the range of 50 ยบ C.

Only patient sir ...
Drag means death occurred in the street. However, on your PC, drag means extra noise. Especially for optical drives and hard drives you. Does not mean you should be tolerant with the latest PC. Only Arrange the speed of your PC in accordance with needs.

For optical drives, how easy enough. Simply relying on DriveSpeed Nero 2.0 software. Set the speed at the range of 24-32x. You can even set a long time before the optical drive of your Spin down. When require high-speed optical drives on you, live settings on maximum speed. This will be needed when the optical drive used for ripping process or to copy a file from the CD / DVD.

Likewise for your hard disk. Unfortunately, this does not apply in all brand hard drives. For example, as to the hard drive MAXTOR with AMSET utilitiy, or the hard disk with the IBM-Hitachi Feature Tool. Adjust the settings with the noise level to your preference.

Other
Noisy sound from your computer can also occur because of the vibration generated. Fan with the poor quality may be one cause. Try to get a fan with a minimum of vibration. Screws are not connected with either the vibration causes sound. This is enough to tighten the screw-screw inserted in your PC.

Watercooling
If you are really fed up with noisy propaganda from your PC, it's time to switch to alternative cooling the other. Watercooling method can be used as alternative options.

Technical short watercooling can dianalogikan with the cooling of motor vehicles using the cooling radiator. Watercooling utilize water to cool the heat generated PC components, especially processor. Usually consists of three main sections, the water block, copper radiator, and water pump. The process of cooling water as cooling media is done on copper radiator, while the circulation of water utilizing the water pump. Water block processor to be placed to drive the heat generated

Benefits, the level of noise generated is very low. Fan radiator worked on the RPM, which is not too high so it is not noisy. Water pump is not noisy, this is due to utilize the water that muffled the sound produced. Solutions that are suitable for cooling the CPU find efficient with a low noise level.

Please note is the likelihood of leaks that can occur when using this method watercooling. In addition, the price is still relatively more expensive compared with the HSF made watercooling cooling method was not an option for most computer users.

Update Bios

New engine, New Luck

When new hardware components are not functioning properly, do check the BIOS to make sure the PC mendeteksinya appropriately. If there is a problem, try to overcome them to update the BIOS.

ATTENTION! : Update the BIOS is not without risk. Had failed, the PC can not distart. I will show how a general who works on most PCs. However, you need to seek information from the motherboard manufacturer. It may provide a more secure solution for your board.

Collecting information: Before you can update the BIOS, the exact name of your motherboard, including the version number and revision. On the PC "false" rather difficult, because usually use cheap clones of famous and the motherboard of course not listed in the guidebook. In addition, the BIOS manufacturer needed a name and number I

The fastest way to get more information by visiting the website is www.wimsbios.com. There, click on "Scan BIOS Update." On the next page, click again on the same key and install the plugin "Driver Agent" offered to Internet Explorer or Firefox. Now read the info.

When back in the "motherboard" noted the strange things, such as "System Product Name", it is likely a product of "false". In this case, Wimsbios back to the website and click on the "Manufacturer". With the help of the BIOS ID, can be the motherboard manufacturer. AMI BIOS-Example: to summarize the number-3 in the BIOS ID show producer. For other versions of the BIOS prosedunnya almost identical.

Make a boot disk: Right-click on the floppy drive. Through the "Format | Create MS-DOS startup" create a boot diskette to run the PC during a flash BIOS.

NOTE: If your PC does not have a floppy drive, the process is rather difficult. ASUS for example, offers an online update the BIOS. When the update process to make the Internet connection is lost, your BIOS is broken. Another possibility is burning utility flash on a CD. However, because of dangerous and less practical, I suggest to install a floppy drive in your PC.

Preparation update: In a simple principle applies here. For the full PC manufacturers such as Dell and others, and update the BIOS flash utility is available at their website. In the assembled PC or when the PC manufacturer does not provide support, get the BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer. With the information obtained beforehand, you can select the appropriate BIOS. And update the BIOS flash utility is usually available as a ZIP file. Extracting the boot diskette.

NOTE: If the manufacturer does not offer the flash program, as an alternative use UniFlash. Through the "Supported Hardware" in www.uniflash.org / hardware.htm, you can know whether your motherboard has supported.

Membackup old BIOS: Restart your PC and specify the floppy drive as the "First Boot Device." On this occasion, record all your BIOS settings because the update process will remove them. Step overclocking should you cancel for security reasons. The fastest way is with the BIOS, such as "Load setup defaults."

Now, start the PC from the floppy disks and flash utility show. Most utility automatically flash mem-long backup of the BIOS. Some (UniFlash) to start additional parameters, such as "save".

Flash BIOS: Replace the old version with the new BIOS. If not happen automatically, required a start parameter. UniFlash offers several parameters at once. For example, the parameters "E" for the flash and without comment "AMI" to display the correct settings for the AMI-BIOS. All the parameters available in UniFlash www.rainbowsoftware.org / uniflash.txt. Once the process is complete, restart the PC and set back the hard disk as the "First Boot Device." If there is not successful, do not occasionally turn your PC! Make or update again if there is an error report, restore the old BIOS.

CD-ROM

A CD-ROM (Compact Disk Read Only Memory) is a drive that reads aluminum-coated round plastic discs but is incapable writing to any disc. Invented in the United States on 1972, the CD-ROM standard was officially introduced in 1982 when Philips and Sony agreed on the 4.72-inch size format we now use today.
Later, as Phillips and Sony continued cooperation in the 1980s, additional specifications were announced concerning the use of CD technology for computer data which evolved into computer CD-ROM drives used today.
The CD-ROM diskettes are 12 x 12 cm with a width of .1cm, as shown in the above picture. The disc is made of a polycarbonate wafer and is coated with a metallic film, usually an aluminum alloy. This aluminum film is the portion of the disc that the CD-ROM drive reads for information. The aluminum film (strata) is then covered by a plastic polycarbonate coating that protects the underlying data. A label will usually be placed on the top of the disc and data is read from the bottom of the CD.
